Splawn, a son of John & Nancy (McHaney) Splawn. John was Mayberry's
brother. Names of ch on this chart supplied by Brenda Givens with
exception of Mayberry, first child. I (Mary Inglis Sims) added him as
he is referred to as Mayberry Jr., which does not necessarily mean a
son, but I could find no other family to which he could possibly
belong.

!The book "KA-MI-AKIN" by Andrew J. Splawn states his family left Mo
for OR in 1851, settling in Linn Co. In 1852 his uncle, Mabry Splawn
& fam joined a group of about 50 covered wagons going to OR, but
Mayberry said to have died of cholera 17 May, 1852 somewhere on the
plains. His family continued on to OR with the wagon train.

OBITUARY

EMMA LOU BERNIUS

SALEM: Emma Lou Bernius, 55, of Alma died Friday at 9:16 am at St. Marys h ospital in Centralia. She was born in Salem on Sept. 17,1931 daught er of Frank H. and Lola (Frieda) McHaney. Her mother survives in Salem. S he married Don E. Bernius in Patoka
on June 15, 1968 and he survives. Other survivors include a brother, Fra nk Edward Storment of Olney and a sister Jane Loerger of Centralia. Mrs. B ernius was a member of First Baptiust Church in Salem. Funeral services w ill be held Monday at 2 pm at Rankin Funeral Home in Salem with Rev. Robe rt P. Ward officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery in Salem. F riends may call at the funeral home from noon Monday until the services. Parents: Frank Henry Storment and Freida McHaney.
