have settled in or near Straight-Stone Creek, Pittsylvania County, VA.

JAMES R. McHANEY of Cape Girardeau, MO has plotted land holdings of
CORNELIUS based on real estate records of Pittsylvania County.

CORNELIUS is listed in the reconstituted census of VA (1790) as head
of a family with 7 children (or 6 and wife).

Pittsylvania County records contain the will of CORNELIUS and an
appraisal of his estate. The latter indicates that he owned 63
slaves.

Army 1775- 1783 by Hertman, F.B., Washington 1914 lists JAMES McHaney,
VA, 1st Lieutenant, 5th VA. 25 Mar 1776. Also a JOHN McHaney is
listed in the DAR index. There was a JOHN McHaney born 6 Aug 1752.
MARY INGLIS SIMS believes DENNIS may have been the father of the MARY
who married JAMES TURNER 17 FEB 1763.

MARY INGLIS SIMS thinks CORNELIUS was born circa 1752-55.

CORNELIUS'S will was dated 30 March 1814 and it was recorded 20 June
1814. Will Bk II, pg 390. Probated 8 July 1814. Accordingly date
shown for death is inaccurate. Death occurred between 30 Mar and 20
Jun 1814. Will mentions sons John & Cornelius & daughters Rollu
Hubbard, Mary Gilbert, & Lelia (Celia?) George also granddaughter
Frankey Turner.

age 19 is listed in 1860 Census (Henderson County, TN). Birth and
death dates from Mrs Lee Roberts (Odile Lawler) based on papers in her
hands written by AMANDA JANE McHANEY TAYLOR in 1902. The papers are
in effectr a family group sheet for the family of WILLIAM CRUTCHFIELD
McHANEY and LOUISE SMITH HENRY. AMANDA was one of their children.
These papers show that CORNELIUS FELIX married ANNA ELIZABETH EMBRY
and that they had no children. Parents: William Crutchfield McHaney and Louise Smith Henry.

Mifflin, TN no longer appears on modern maps of TN. GAILON McHaney
found it on an old civil war era map near Jackson TN. Census records
indicate Mifflin was in Henderson County.

GAIL McHaney COOKE says that correct name for CORNELIUS II is WILLIAM
CORNELIUS II.
