OBITUARY

SALEM -- Leanna McHaney, 94, of Salem, died kyesterday at Doctors' Nursi ng Home. Mrs McHaney was born in tonti Township, the daughter of Alfred a nd Emma Jett. On Aug 25, 1907, in Tonti Township, she married William Rob ert McHaney, who died in September 1966.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Leigh McHaney of Salem, Alfred McHaney of Oka homa, James McHaney of Ardansas, and Charles McHaney of Metropolis, thr ee daughters, Frieda Storment, Frances Morris and Emma Branch, all of Sale m, 26 grandchildren 55 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchild ren.

Funeral services will be 2 pm tomorrow at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Ho me in Salem. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 pm to 9 pm today at the funeral home in Salem.

Pemberton, and John A. Smith, executors of Andrew McHaney, Lucy Whitlaw, w ife o
Henry Whitlaw, Polly Pemberton, wife of Thomas Pemberton, and Mary Smit h, wife
of John A. Smith. Aney McHaney states that she is the widow of Andrew McH aney
who departed this life in Wilson County where they had both lived for a
considerable time. The said Andrew McHaney was in posession of a consider able
amount of property. On 28 December 1826, the same day the said Andrew m ad his
will, he executed deeds for land to his children that he had in his first
marriage, viz. Henry Whitlaw and wife Lucy, John A. Smith and wife Nanc y, Thoma
Pemberton and wife Polly, and William McHaney. The widow was to receive a
pittance. She asks that the deeds be considered fraudulent. Said childr en stat
that the widow frequently was absent for weeks at a time. Said Andr ew at one
time refused to pay any of her debts. She often told him if he was to gi ve her
$600 she would leave him altogether. After being absent for sometime, s he woul
return, not to live in peace and quietness, but to quarrel with and vili fy the
said Andrew. She left him in the Spring of 1826. She returned but aga in left
in the Winter of 1827 and continued abssent until his death which took pla ce in
