was the daughter of WILLIAM HOLIFIELD & MILLICENT DANIELS. "Mother
did not have much formal schooling, perhaps no more than six years.
Her father fought in the Civil War, becoming a Presbyterian minister
after the war. Both her parents died while she was still a child.
Mother's background is English on both sides, probably Puritans.
Mother was active in the Presbyterian Church work. Also worked in the
Woman's Club, serving as President several times> Her work in the
Woman's Club resulted in many improvements for Piggott, to name a few,
the Library, paved streets, and artesian water. Mother's father was
the first Presbyterian minister of the church at Piggott. The same
building is still in use, and it is still pretty and well kept.
Mother's efforts to learn and improve her mind never stopped. She was
also compassionate and did all she could to help other people to have

1855. He was captured by Union soldiers on way to grind corn 1860.
Traded to Confederate Army as a soldier. Enlisted in Confederate Army
at Petersburg, VA Jan 9, 1863. Co K, 10th Regiment, Missouri Calvary,
CSA. After war returned to Arkansas to farm also was the only doctor
in community ( self educated). On Sundays he was a circuit rider for
Cumberland Presbyterian Church also Protestant Methodist.
