ROY and ANITA met while ROY w as in the US Army, in Fort Knox Ky. 2 months later, they were marri ed at Northern Illinois University, in DeKalb, Ill. ROY went to germany a nd ANITA soon went over. While in Germany, ANITA became pregant with fir st child, HEATHER ANN McHaney. ANITA came back to the states to have t he child and ROY returned two weeks after she was born. They lived in Ch andler Arizona for the 21 years they were married. Both ANITA and ROY we nt back to school and ANITA finally fullfilled her wish and became a Soi ls Engineer. [1mchaney.ged] !The Piggott Times, Wednesday, January 21, 1987 carried an article about the Myers family. Here is an extract: "...married in 1879 to ELLA BAIR of Lancaster, Pa. She was of Swiss origin, her family having come to this country in 1700. Mrs Myers was a charter member of the Piggott Civic Club which was organized in 1910 and she served as president several times before her death in June 1938. She died of a heart attack on a Sunday morn- ing while in church services at the First Methodist Church in Piggott where she was a faithful member." !Following from JOYCE MYERS BRADLEY 1976: "Grandmother was well educated for her time. She attended a boarding school for several years and I am sure she graduated, but I have no record of it. Benjamin Bair (Bear?) originated the family--two sons David and Benjamin. David was father of JACOB BAIR, born Jan 2 1792 died Jan 26 1852. Born in Lanncaster County, moved to Westmoreland County, married ELIZABETH BOWERS, daughter of SEBAS- TIAN & MAGDALENE BOWERS. Grandmother was a dainty person of small pro- portions. But she was strong. She lived to herself and had few close friends, but she was respected by all. A little Yankee Lady, living in the south. Her close friends were Mrs Paul M. Pfeiffer, Mrs Bert Harlan, and Mrs Lura Brown. Her favorite movie star was William S. Hart and she attende the movies every Friday night for many years. She belonged to the Women's Club, and was a faithful Methodist all her life. Her father was a Metodist also but the Bairs were originally Swiss Mennonites." !Obit in Piggott Times states she was born in Westmoreland Co., PA. Another article in a paper( I have clipping but paper is not identified) carried pictures of Mr & mrs J. M. Myers and a writeup. It says Mrs. Myers was of Swiss origin her family having come to this country in 1700, Her paternal ancestor was Gen. James Black whose commission as a Captain in the Revolutionary war was signed by General George Washington and is now in possession fo Mrs Myers family. !I (G. McHaney) have a copy of a letter dtd June 16th, 1903 on letterhead of SECURITY INVESTMENT COMPANY, Westinghouse Building, Pittsburg, PA to J.C.BARI, Esq., East Pittsburg, Pa. Possible J.C. BAIR is ELLA's brother. Letter announces J.C.'s appointment as Superintendent of the Westinghouse Interworks Railway Company plus spervision over the terminals of the Machine Company at East Pittsburg and the Foundry Company at Trafford City....His salary was to be $125.00/month. Letter signed by George C. Smith, Vice Pres. Parents: Jacob A. Bair and Amy Uber. She was married to James Monroe Myers in 1879.
